Ultrasound examination of the breast

With our high resolution ultrasound machine we have a harmless and painless method to see suspicious lumps that are often non palpable and we can distinguish between benign and malignant lumps. We do not use any x-rays, only high frequencies of sound. When the palpation of the breast is unclear a mammasonography can be done directly in my office to clarify the situation. In case an additional mammography is necessary, I will refer you to a radiologist who will perform that procedure.

Addition to mammography screening

For women without complaints, I recommend the mammasonography from the age of 35-50 years in addition to the regular check up to detect or exclude non palpable masses. Also for women under hormonal therapy we recommend mammasonography in addition to the mammography-screening, because under hormonal therapy the breast is often less radiolucent and carcinomas may be underdiagnosed.
