STIKO recommends vaccination against whooping cough between the 28th and 32nd weeks of pregnancy, or earlier if there is a risk of premature birth. The vaccination should be administered during every pregnancy, regardless of previous vaccinations. Statutory health insurance plans cover the costs.

Midwives – important partners for expectant and new mothers

Family midwives as the first point of contact: The family midwives in the early prevention program are state-certified midwives with an additional qualification. They accompany pregnant women, mothers and fathers with a need for support, primarily in the first year of the child’s life, and provide advice and support.
